Port de Pollenca

Port de Pollenca

Puerto Pollenca is one of the most popular family resorts in the whole of Mallorca and offers great activities, beaches, bars and restaurants to the visitors that come here every year.

The horseshoe shaped bay is well protected from strong winds and so the calm, warm water of the Mediterranean sea are ideal for holidays by the beach. The Pine Walk promenade along Passeig Voramar, all whitewashed villas and pine trees leaning into the sea, is perfect for an early evening walk.

The resort of Puerto Pollenca offers lovely sea view apartments over the stunning beachfront Pine Walk as well as all inclusive hotel packages. There are many fincas and villas situated in the back roads of the town including spectacular houses on the hill of Gotmar looking over the town.

Like many Majorcan towns, Puerto Pollenca was originally a fishing village. This North Majorcan town still features a large marina which nowadays harbours leisure boats but you can still see some traditional ‘llaüts’ used by the Mallorcans for catching fish.

This genteel, old-fashioned resort at the mouth of Pollenca Bay is popular throughout the year. There is also a large community of foreign residents, mostly retired British.

Look out for the bust of Hermen Anglada-Camarasa, the Catalan painter who spent many years in Pollenca and whose work is displayed in the Fundacio la Caixa in Palma. A favourite walk from Port de Pollenca is the 3-km hike across the Formentor peninsula through the Boquer valley, a paradise for ornithologists and lovers of wild flowers.

The beach at Puerto Pollensa is definitely a major attraction but if you fancy doing something else for the day then the town has much more to offer than simply lying in the sun.
